Hello  i  have  a  2004  25  hp  johnson  with  push  button  start  i  checked  and  cleaned  contacts  under  button.sometimes  when  you  push  button it  will  fire sometimes  it  does  nothing  at  all  not  sure  if  the  contact button  is  bad  or  sometimes when  it  wont  start  i  shift  it  then  it  will  fire. do  you  think  switch or other  problem  also  is  it  possible  to  put  key  start  on  instead  of  button  thanks kevin

with the kit that is on the motor now,electric start, charging system,neutral switch,...make sure you move the shift handel before starting, to ensure the nuetral switch is in the correct position...you could add a key switch to it but you will need a new wiring harness and switch assesembly...
