Question
I have a boat that has been setting up for ±5 years. I cleaned carb's last year but it was still running rough. The motor only has ±125 hrs on it. What is the best way to tune same? or What are the major components should I look at or change out to make it run smooth? Thanks, Kevin

Answer
I would rebuild the carb again with all new gaskets. Do a complete tune up including plugs, water pump, thermostat etc. Do a compression and leak down test. Check for excessive carbon build-up. Use a product like Power Tune to help clean out the carbon on the pistons and cylinder head, then use a product like Quickleen in your fuel to clean and keep clean the pistons and rings.
You may want to replace the head gasket and even the upper and lower seals, however that is optional.
Make sure all hoses are replaced all the way from the fuel tank. Examine and properly fix or replace any wires that are discolored, have cuts or scrapes from rubbing. Pay close attention to the spark plug wires.
