Question
2005 Merc 115.Carbureted. 2 cyl at idle. 4 cyl above 2000RPM. I am interested in eliminating the 2+2 feature. Are there any modification kits available. The engine runs poorly during the transition and also idles poorly intermittently. Any know mods would be helpful.

Answer
Bill, I don't know of any modifications or way to convert the engine. While they can be problematic quite often there is another reason for the engine to run rough and if it is not up to snuff, then the 2+2 makes it worse.
Check your compression, spark plug condition and try running a little Power Tune through the engine. If you are doing your own work make sure you follow the directions in the service manual exactly.
