Question
Boat won't fire through spark plugs. I omed the stater, checks ok - as seen in one of your blogs. It start and ran fine one day and the very next weekend wouldn't start at all. Can give you give me some advice? I would hate to start buying and replacing parts. I'm not sure what to check.
Thanks

Answer
Charlie, you should take the engine to a qualified technician. While you can check the stator and ignition coil with an OHM meter, that is about it. You also can't be sure what the stator, trigger or coils will do under an electrical load.
You will need a peak reading voltmeter and service manual to do this. By having the entire system checked out you can be assured of finding the problem the first time and save money in the long run.
I would suggest that you throughly check the boat and engines electrical wiring, ignition switch, grounds etc throughly. You can do this visually, by removing and cleaning connections and with your ohm meter.
Check the operation of the key switch and neutral safety switch, as well as the small wires on the terminal board.
