Question
my choke dont cut in when key is pushed in and the engine will fire but not run, however i can turn little red lever on top of carbs there is no problem and i put lever back in normal position,it runs fine

Answer
The red lever is working because it is a manual lever to engage the choke.  To fix it, you need to hold in on the key and check the power wire going into the choke.  With the key on and held in you should have 12 volts.  If not, the problem is in the key switch itself or the wire running from the key to the choke.  If there is 12 volts at the choke, check the ground, but you probably need a new choke solenoid.

Expertise

Basic boat motor mechanics or boat wiring. I can help the most on mercruisers, merc outboards, and johnson evinrude outboards.

Experience

Mercruiser tech. Started working on boat motors three years ago. I have limited shop time under my belt but have proven myself in our shop and am now the shop manager.

Organizations
I have a mercury tech number and a yamaha tech number if you would like, but i don't think that being a certified tech makes you a good diagnostic pro.

Education/Credentials
Three years of see and learn shop time. Two weeks of tech training at Mercuiser school at Springfield. Two update merc schools at Topeka KS. "gotta love George". Tons of "E" skills classes online. Most of my ability to diagnose came from shop time working out problems.
