Boat Repair/Loss of RPMs

Question
Jeff:

I own a 130 Yamaha 2 stroke with about 150 hrs on it.  Last summer, it started dropping RMPs (throttle set to 5500 but the motor would drop to 2000 then kick back in to 5500 then drop off to 2000 and so on).  Quite Frustrating.  It will run fine for 20-30 minutes then start to drop off as described above.  I suspect that it is something electrical - which scare me.   Any thoughts to the problem???

Answer
Could be a number of things, but I would suspect either the power pack or stator. Both store or create electricity and do heat up which can cause a failure. An ignition coil can do the same thing.
Have it diagnoses properly at a good service shop. You will save money in the long run.
