Question
i have a 2000 mercruiser tahoe 220 it is injecting fuel and we also have spark but the engine just doesnt want to start. we already changed spark plugs ,cables etc...it sometimes acts like it wants to start but it just doesnt. what suggestions do you have for me..

Answer
First thing to look at is the kill switch.  The motor will have spark with the kill switch off untill you let off of the start side of the key.  While you are cranking the engine, it will have spark until you let off of the key to let it run.  Make sure your kill switch is flipped to run.  Second thing to look at is your shift interupter switch on the left side of the motor.  Where the control box shift cable meets the intermediate shift cable.  There is a shift interupter switch that will kill spark just like the kill switch if it is out of adjustment.

Expertise

Basic boat motor mechanics or boat wiring. I can help the most on mercruisers, merc outboards, and johnson evinrude outboards.

Experience

Mercruiser tech. Started working on boat motors three years ago. I have limited shop time under my belt but have proven myself in our shop and am now the shop manager.

Organizations
I have a mercury tech number and a yamaha tech number if you would like, but i don't think that being a certified tech makes you a good diagnostic pro.

Education/Credentials
Three years of see and learn shop time. Two weeks of tech training at Mercuiser school at Springfield. Two update merc schools at Topeka KS. "gotta love George". Tons of "E" skills classes online. Most of my ability to diagnose came from shop time working out problems.
