Question
i just bought a new trim motor for my Yamaha pro 50. motor runs both was but wont raise or lower motor . how do i bleed it or is that not the problem

Answer
Probably just needs bled.  to do that, fill the reservoir and run the motor up and down.  fill the reservoir again and go up and down again.  Keep doing this until the motor starts moving up and down.  Just keep filling it and moving it until it moves smoothly all the way up and down.  If you fill the reservoir and when you run the motor the fluid level isn't going down at all, you will have to loosen the manual release valve at the base of the pump.  Take a flat screwdriver and loosen the release valve a little bit until you can lift the motor by hand.  When you get the motor lifted up a little way, tighten the valve then try trimming the motor down, sometimes that helps to get some fluid in the pump to get you started.  An easier way to do that would be to lift up real hard on the motor and try to trim it up.  By lifting it you can help suck some fluid into the pump.

Expertise

Basic boat motor mechanics or boat wiring. I can help the most on mercruisers, merc outboards, and johnson evinrude outboards.

Experience

Mercruiser tech. Started working on boat motors three years ago. I have limited shop time under my belt but have proven myself in our shop and am now the shop manager.

Organizations
I have a mercury tech number and a yamaha tech number if you would like, but i don't think that being a certified tech makes you a good diagnostic pro.

Education/Credentials
Three years of see and learn shop time. Two weeks of tech training at Mercuiser school at Springfield. Two update merc schools at Topeka KS. "gotta love George". Tons of "E" skills classes online. Most of my ability to diagnose came from shop time working out problems.
