Question
I have just replaced the rotted transom in my boat, reinstalled the gimbal and inner transom plate, the gimbal bearing, and all the rubber boots.  Now after engine installation, the alignment tool will not go into the coupler splines no matter how far up or down I raise the engine. What have I done wrong, and what are the suggestions?

Answer
When you put the alignment tool in don't go too far in and you can move the gimbal bearing around up and down side to side, then try to get it in.. put the motor mount bolt levels where they were when you started...try that, it sounds like it will work.  When you replaced the inner transom plate did you use the thick washers and springs??  If not there you go..let me know....
