Boat Repair/Manual tilt on evinrude outbaord

Question
I have an Evinrude 85hp V4 with a manual tilt lever on right side looking down from top.  The engine was in the up position all Winter long during storage.  Boat is now in water with engine down and everything works fine, but I CAN'T raise engine back up when I flip lever into tilt position...can't pull engine back up no matter what positions lever is in.  Is there some safety lock or something I'm not aware of preventing me from raisng engine?  Itr just seems locked down in drive position.  Thanks for your help...  Clark

Answer
Hi Clark,

i'm not familiar with this model. However, if you've had the motor for a season without any trouble, then the tilt may have ceased up. Get some spray oil and give the tilt mechanism a thorough spray. You may have to wait for the spray to seep in before being able to adjust the tilt.

Good luck

Let me know how you get on
