i have a 1994 regal commodore 400 with 454's in it I dinged a prop had it "reworked" but seem to have lost an incredible amount of speed it used to go about 32 now i only get 21 the boys at the marina where i had it done seem to be clueless as to what is wrong so I am wondering what pitch and what diameter props were put on from the factory.I haven't been successful so far it seems to be classified info I hope you can help thanks rob
mercruiser comes with a 13 x 17 or 19 , see what size is on there now.and increase the pitch by 2. at wot the engine should be a reccomended rpms..a change in pitch 2 inches lower will give you more top end rpms but less speed, if you go up 2 then the rpms go down and the speed goes up...

| Comment | all though the answer was correct for a mercery out drives my boat is 40 ft long and has silent drive transmissions with prop shafts going through the hull the props have been restamped 19 x22 i believe the original props were 27x24 that is why i was wondering what factory pitch and diameter was so i could question why they modified them so much | ||
