Question
QUESTION: I have a 96 fours winns...there are two wires that go thru the were the motor is bolted on.  the wires are dry rotted do I have to take the motor out to replace them.  they go to sensors on the side of the stern drove i assume they have somthing to do with the trim??

ANSWER: Hi Jeffrey,

apologies for late reply. The wires are for the electric trim adjustment. If you can work with the motor in the water to replace them, do. Make sure the ignition is disconnected first.

Hope it helps

Chris

QUESTION: I don't undertand the replay I have the boat on a trailer.  Do I have to drop the stern drive to get the bolts behind the gimble ring(I think that is what it is called)out.  or is there an easier way.  and it is an 86 not a 96

Answer
Hi Jeffery,

i thought your boat was in the water! You need to be able to get at the wire terminals to replace them. I am not familiar with this model. But if you can get at the hydraulic where the wires connect then you can change them.

Sorry for misunderstanding.
