Expert: chris Wethered - 5/22/2008

Question
This motor is about 4 years old.  The last 2 times on the water, I noticed that It was running great and at it's normal rate of Rpms, but it was only pushing my boat about 1/2 the speed that it normally runs.  I had put a cheap replacement prop about 2 years ago.  Do you think that it could be the prop, or is there anything else that i should look at?

Hi Blaine,

Have a conversation with a mechanic about the prop. It sounds like your money saving has come back to haunt you. If the prop to motor ratio is not at the recommended level then that's why the engine is under performing.
