Question
Hello. motor will idle in water, but when you gas it, it dies, new plugs and fuel, it starts right back up, does it have a fuel filter at the point of entry to engine that could cause it or is it the brainbox???? thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Jim,

i believe from your description, that it's the gear which is slipping when you try to engage it from idle. If that's the case, then you need to service the motor, paying attention to the gearing unit. Look for wear and tear, dirt build up etc. If you still have the instructions follow them. If not then ask on line or contact Mariner directly.

Thank you for the question
