Question
305 Inboard with outboard drive.  Here is the problem:
Grinding noise when you engage motor and wont engage until about 1/3 way throttled forward.   I know the problem is in the drive but need more help troubleshooting source of noise.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Galan,

Sorry to reply so late.

Take the lower unit off and strip out all the components. If nothing is out of place then give a good clean and service then put back together.

By going through the sequence you will identify the noise and so fix it.
