Question
QUESTION: My 2005 Palm Beach Pontoon boat has water coming up through the decking in the middle front of the floor. I have used a sealer underneath along all rails and I still have water coming up through the decking. Do I need to apply a boat yard resin to the underneath side of the decking? Is this common with Pontoon Boats?

ANSWER: Hi Bob,

I should take the decking up and examine what is beneath. Rectify the where the water is coming from. If you fix that properly then you wont need resin beneath the decking.

QUESTION: What about adding some sheet metal flashing to the underneath side of the boat? Hoping this will deflect the water and solve problem. The boat is only 3 years old, I hate to pull up the carpet etc....

Answer
What you ought to do is get the boat out of the water and make sure the hull is not damaged. If it is then you need to get some a fiberglass fixing kit and repair the hole. If water is getting in, then maybe the hull which is damaged.

Failing that water might be getting in through a crack somewhere above the waterline.

Let me know if these are the problems
