Boat Repair - boat alarm

Expert: chris Wethered - 5/14/2008

Question
When starting the boat for the 1st time this year an alarm sounds. Last year the dealer said it was overheated, however it did it again this year and it was the 1st time turning the key, in the driveway with the proper water hook-ups. It's a mercury motor, bass tracker PT175 boat.

Answer
Hi Alpha,

the alarm also sounds due to the automatic oil blend system. You distinguish the problem by listening to the alarm noise. If the sound is intermittent then it's the oiling system. If it's a steady sound then it's overheating.

Cheers

Chris
