Question
where is the impeller located,how do i change it and do i need any special tools to do it, the motor is a 3.3 h.p. mercury mariner

Hi Dave,

the impeller is found in the lower casing. You access it by taking the screws off the casing and taking the casing off. If you have a vice it's good to keep the engine steady to work on.

Remove the O rings from the water pump at the base of the splines on the engine driveshaft. Remove the fasteners holding the water housing in place. Lift the pump housing up off it's seat and over the end of the driveshaft.

Now replace the impeller and check all the water channels are clear and free from corrosion.
