Question
I have a 1989 Johnson 140 hp looper, about 1 year ago I noticed the motor was using more fuel and the motor did not have the usual constant hum,it was up and down just a hair, now the motor will not run without me constantly squeezing the primer bulb,I am 99 sure it is the diaphram in the fuel pump.Is this easy to replace on that model with vro and would that drastically effect my fuel consumption?

Answer
that is correct I am 100 percent sure the vro has gone bad....they now have rebuild kits for some models..but I suggest a new one instead of trying to rebuild it.....it shouldn't make it burn more...less if any thing...the fuel leak could be elsewere....boatmansbargains.com
