Boat Repair/taking on water

Question
I have a '94 Monterrey w/a Mercruiser I/O.  The boat runs great, but is taking on a lot of water - bilge pump comes on about every 5 minutes when just sitting still in the water.  I can hear water coming in around the motor, but can't see where it's coming from.  Any ideas where I should look first?

Answer
you probly have a broken shift bellows...on the trailer turn the steering all the way to the left, and tilt the drive up...shift cable bellows should be on the right....if that is ok then pull the drive and check the u-joint bellows....boatmansbargains.com.....
