Question The Tachometer on my 1993 Johnson 115 HP works at times. Wiring seems to be ok. Is the problem in the Tach on the dash board or the unit on the motor. My expert !! friends say if tach is not working motor won't charge the batteries.
Answer the tachometer reads pulses sent by the rectifier. the rectifer changes ac voltage to dc coltage.. the dc voltages are going to charge the batteries and the tach. so somtimes the rectifier could be replaced and the tach would start working again..
