QuestionQUESTION: the other night the engine ran fine with no problems until it cut out...turns out the batt finally took a crap on me..i jumped the boat... left everything off and got home fine..the next day i wanted to make sure it wasn't the alternator that was bad so i started the engine... cranked right up..and turned off the batts to see if it stayed running..it did for 20 seconds then shut off...i turned the batts back on tried to start it again and it wouldn't turn over at all...after i crank it for a little bit more then i should it knida starts for a split second...i do have spark... i have a evenrude 130 2 stroke 1996 thank you
ANSWER: you should never run it with the battery turned off...it is not a car alt..check your rectifer and wiring at the engine for burnning..look under the flywheel and see if you can see any burnt wires or melted epoxy..

QUESTION: one more question could it also be the timmer base or the power pack thank you i disconnected a black wire with a yellow stripe i was told it would b pass the system i did that as well but i still get nothing if that helps thanks
Answerthe wire you disconnected is the kill wire, so you deturmined that the kill system is OK. now the stator which is under the flywheel, as is the trigger or sensor coils... the ign swstem is as follows..
1 flywheel mangets
2 charge coil output or stator output 120 volts ac at cranking speed
3 sensor coil output at least 2.0 volts at cranking speed
4 CDI unit.. the cdi takes the coltage made by the stator coils and stores it untill the sensor coils tell it which cyl to fire
5 Ignition coils
6 spark plug
7 Ignition Switch
