Question
I have a 1988 Searaider with a 70 hpr Evinrude and i am having problems getting it started when its cold.I can get it started if I spray quick start in the carbs and have the ckoke all the way open but it wont start with out doing that.Once its started it seems to run really good but when I shut it off and sit for about 20 min I have to make sure I choke it again or I have to go through the quick start thing again and its a real pain so do you have any advice

Answer
Hi Brandon

It sounds like either new spark plugs are needed, cleaning or distances checked (feeler gauge)(but you will need to refer to manufactures handbook for gap which you should be able to find online) to clean just rub gently with a fine wire brush but it could also be running rich so in which case lean out your fuel mixture most mechanics should be able to help hope this works & good luck

Thanks
Martyn
