Boat Repair - powerpack

Expert: Everett Peacock - 6/9/2009

Question
I have a 1985 mercury 115 hp motor that falls on its face on take off, if it will even get on plane.  I'm pretty sure its a power pack but not sure how to figure out witch one. does anyone know how to test one without putting it in the shop

Answer
need to see if you have compression and spark to each cylinder.. there is no test for the switchbox but you can test all the other items failure.  charge coil   150 ac volts at cranking speed., the sensor coils 2.5 and up   if they are good then it would be a switchbox failure..
