Question
QUESTION: I have been trying to start my marine chevy 4.3. I got it to the point that it is trying to start but it dies once the started is not turning the crank. It is hard to time because the RPM of the engine is too low. I also tried to line up number 1 cylinder and approximately align the distributor with the DST. finger and that did not work also. I know I have the spark since it will fire and as long I have it cranked by the starter it runs.

ANSWER: what brand engine is it.???  and year ??

Answer
with the key in the on position you should have voltage to the positive side of the coil..when cranking the voltage is supplied by the starter relay.. check the wires on the solenoid.. should be a purple and yellow wire...there is a resistance wire between the alt and the coil.
