Question
I have a "99" or "2000" 125 outboard mercury that will not stay running after being started.I let it sit for about 3-4 months and had it serviced a few months prior to letting it sit. And its also giving of some blue smoke. Can you tell me why it wont stay running and if maybe there is a safety feature that wont allow it stay running if the oil is a little less than half?

Answer
if you left fuel in the engine it could have turned to varnish and is now clogging the jets...does hitting the choke make it run ???  Do a compression test and then a spark test and see what you have..if you have spark and good comp then look at the carbs..
