Hi i have a 1985 edson challenger gt 19.5 ' boat with a 3.8 4bbl with a gear driven leg is there any way to swap it for another leg perhaps one with a cardgan joint. the teeth wear away too often and it's a pain. i guess i would like to stay with the same gearing if possible. ty jeff.

there is no wau to convert with out changing the complete system....85 and older used a 400 series drive system with ball joints at the pivot point.. 86 and newer use the Cobra drive with unicersal joints at the pivot points...the ball joints wear excesivle it he drive is not all the way down..
