1991 7.4 Mercruiser. My intake hose came off resulting in the motor running too hot and ruining the impeller. My question is : Do I need to purchase just the impeller or do I need a kit?
I am getting many different opinions.

if the intake hose came off the boat would sink... the impeller you are talking about is either in the lower half of the stern drive or in a engine mounted sea water pump in the engine compartment...  if engine was run with no water the impeller is beat....
