I have a 1999 cutter bowrider with a 75hp mercury force . My quicksilver wont let me rev the motor with out engage the motor . I push the black round button and try moving shifter to rev it and it wont let me am i doing some thing wrong . The black button spins and when i press it it doesn't go in that much . Thanks

you should be able to push the button in and then move the lever forward to increase engine spped tith out being in gear...They do break in side sometimes, it sounds like it need to be taken apart and inspected...parts are available for it...
