Can you convert 1979 omc 185 hp engine to a mercruiser?  This engine has a siezed mainshaft.  If possible, what are the issues in doing so?

can not convert..  79 outdrive is an old drive to replace the engione....To replace it with a mercruiser you would have to remove engine and transom assembly...get a new merc package and install it....
