Question
Hello, i recently purchased an old Larson boat with a 50hp Evinrude. i was told by the previous owner that the Evinrude would run but is only firing on one cylinder. he told me he had a compression check done and both cylinders are good, he replaced both coils, rebuilt the carbs and put new plugs in. do you know what would keep one cylinder from firing?
thank you for any help you can give.

Answer
swap the ignition coils and see if the problem follows the coil....it should have at least 5 ac volts and the sensor coils..40 and above onthe low side of the stator and 110 or higher on the high side .. if all that checks out replace the power pack..
