Question
Going across the lake the boat felt like it jumped out of gear. the boat was running but could not get the prop to turn. people said it sounds like the coupler went. wanted to know how much time and money it would take if i took it to boat repair shop. its a searay with a 140 inboard. i am not a good mechanic.

Answer
yes it sounds like the coupler went... The engine must be pulled, once it is out it is nothing to replace the coupler..remove bell housing and the coupler is there connected with the six bolts that hold on the flywheel..when replacing the coupler and flywheel use lock tight onthe threads..
