Question
I have a 1981 Johnson 175 OB on a 20ft 1981 Baja. The motor starts easily and accelerates and runs great when cold or until you shut down for a short period of time,(say long enough to change skiers, reel in the rope, pick up skis etc). Then, it still starts easily and idles well. My problem is when I try to accelerate to pull up another skier or just take off quickly, it bogs down and dies unless I hit the choke momentarily then it will catch and speed up. (It almost feels like a vapor lock on an old car during mid August heat wave.) It runs well otherwise so I dont believe I have bad reed valves. I have not gone through the carbs but have changed fuel filter and replaced the main fuel line and quick connector. There is no anti-siphon valve installed. Any suggestions? Thanks
