Subject: Sea Ray Sundancer 25' 1986

Question
We have a 1986 Sea Ray Sundancer in great shape except for the cabin leaks that I believe are from the windows..
Water seems to run aft and collects at the back of the aft cabin.. Is there anything I can do to prevent this leaking..
Please reply ASAP I'm due to sell this boat and would like to sell it tight and dry..
Thanks...

Answer
Hi Eddie...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Water will likely collect aft, because of the weight and location of your engine(s). In the event you believe water is entering via the portholes and there's no staining or other evidence of leakage, best you check the hull/deck joint and moulding for leaks. The boat has likely endured a fair amount of periodic pounding in waves and through wakes over the years, which may have partially released the hull/deck fastenings and separated the moulding. Check more closely. You'll locate the source. When found, use a silicone sealant.

Safe Boating
Ron
