This is Ayana Kakulatombo and to me Natural Mystic means the representation of African beauty, intelligence and to have total understanding of ones culture to be able to lead the righteous of every race, colour and creed into peace amongst themselves. My own thoughts and opinions of the meaning and I think that Bob Marley saw it in himself and also saw it in the generations to come regardless of their race. One should see it in their own children and one should hope to see it in their own children. That is my view of the natural mystic. I am too a natural mystic and they are many others that are natural mystic's that is just my opinion and I pray that there are many natural mystica to come.

"Natural Mystic" in my opinion, refers to the spirit of certain Jamaicans. Did you know that the Maroon Indians were one of the only Indian tribes to actually win when the Europeans and the Spanish took over the West Indies? The fought for over a century to gain their independence and freedom and still live in the mountains of Jamaica today:) I know these people well because my fiance is one of them. He told me that he feels a "Natural Mystic" when he knows something good or bad is about to happen or has happened (and he has not been told about it). Its true that everyone may have their interpretation of the Bob's lyrics, so he is therefore still living out the legacy of giving birth to reggae music. All in all, its how you view it in your own eyes.

Ok just my 2 cents...the trumpets he's referring to in the song, are directly tied in with the biblical trumpets. Ya know...he was buried with a bible...

Paul Vogel is Paul Bogel - Jamaican folk hero of the Morant Bay Uprising.

"One Drop" is a definition of Africaness, if you have one drop of African blood you are African despite any dilution like Marley who is half European.

Hi!

I've learned between 2001 and 2005 (so I've quite missed my youth years believe me) that because I was really possessed by Bob Marley's memory that Natural Mystic as well as all of his songs speak about nowadays always. It is as if from events or happenings around him in his time he has managed to make his songs have a meaning today! Natural Mystic is about a very-well known person whose "magic" really makes you think that she is so natural and easy at it. It is The Queen herself! I've learned also through Bob Marley's memory put there around me because there have been too many hypnotic vibes coming from his name or his image everywhere on tv, internet etc that The Queen is really really passionate about him! Everything Bob Marley serves as basis to her own work, either domestically or in politics....

So when Bob Marley sings "there's a natural mystic blowing through the air", it may really mean that it's the time when The Queen with all her magic, power or influence really expresses herself through the medias and the music industry really....so the radio well anything "on" or "on air"!!!

I've even had my "exorcism" session about Bob Marley so much so it was serious on me!

Okay, so I too am no "expert" but ask anyone that really knows me and I am one of the biggest Bob Marley fans ever and will always be. That song happens to be one of my two favorite songs (mellow mood being the other) from Bob. My wife questions why i have so many different cd's and compilations of Bob Marley if they mostly have the same songs on them. True, they do but some are different versions. The original version of natural mystic is under three minutes i believe. I found a five and a half minute version on a four disc set. Anyways i suggest to listen to the live version (look on youtube) right before he performs the song he speaks about jah, ever fearfull and ever sur...then says, "theres a natural mystic blowing threw here!" listen to the other parts, and remember Bob believed "one love" can over come "evil". He tried to teach love through his music, again listen to the words in his song and hes talking about feeling united, "theres a natural mystic blowing threw the air, i wont tell no lie, cus if you listen carefully you will hear, this could be the first trumpt, might as well be the last, many more will have to suffer , many more will have to die, dont ask me why, you see things are not the way they used to be,wanna know that they face reality, tho i try to find the answer to all the questions they ask, yes i know its impossible to go living threw your past, CANT KEEP US DOWN!" So yes it is about what is going on in the world and in Jamaica at the time but its about "love conquering evil"

The trumpets are from the bible, Revelations. In the book they are blown to indicate the start of a new stage in time, as we move towards God's judgement. Bob thinks the Natural Mystic that he hears blowing could be the first or last trumpet. Bob is telling us to wake up and hear the trumpet, our Creator is trying to tell us something through the natural voice of events around the world.

For years my favorite Marley song has been Natural Mystic.  I was recently (April/2010) on a tour through the mountains of Jamaica to Marley's birthplace and mausoleum at Nine Mile.  Just as we rounded a corner of the narrow road the tour guide blasted "Natural Mystic" on the bus's sound system.  She said this lookoff, called Natural Mystic, not far from his birthplace, was the inspiration for the song. As we got off the bus for a better look, a mist enveloped us as a local farmer offered ganja. The lookoff was one of the more beautiful places I have seen and, according to our local tour guide, for Marley and inhabitants of Nine Mile had spiritual significance.

As a Raftsman my intuition think Brother Bob is telling the world that the natural mystic blowing in the air is  of  "inevitability of Change" e.g, The Fall of the Soviet Empire. The reunification of East and West Germany. The end of apartheid in(South Africa) Azania. The election of Obama as the first black president of the US. Bob is telling the world no matter what religion and the powers that be do to suppress world events and thoughts, people regardless of race, color, creed or origin are getting closer together and with nature, realizing we are all brothers and sisters in the light of GOD ... Power returning to the people ... no longer being deceived, misled and divided by politicians, their ideology and propaganda. The awareness the benefits of organic foods and that the consumption of animal products and the chemicals in our foods is harmful to us and causes cancer and other fatal illnesses is a part of the natural mystic.

To make this clear to everyone, the meaning of natural mystic is very easy to see,..

just "listen carefully and you wil hear" just as bob said.. now

This is about things that are going around on global level, has got something to do with the conspirancy-theorie's about World Domination and stuff like that..

those are the things that bob marley has in his songs just listen "ride natty ride", Crazy Bald heads", "Top Rankin", "Zimbabwe", "Redemption song", "Guilltiness", "The Heathen", and many more just read the lyrics and read carrefully

Thats why most dindnt really like him and try'd to bann him those are even sources claiming that he was killed and dindt died of cancer..

but still those are all theories and thats also with meanings of songs of artists who are not amongst us any more you just can't never know what is the meaning..

greets from Holland, Amsterdam!! Where Marijuana is Legal!!

The Legend lives on..

If you have ever lost a loved one who was very very close to you...listen to the song thinking of this person. Remember..he does not say 'can't keep us down' but instead he says 'can't keep THEM down'..i think he is talking about the 'feelings' or the 'tears' whenever he thinks of that person..you can't keep them down and you shouldn't try

'things are not the way they used to be' ..that lines speaks for itself

the answers that he cannot find though he's tried..those are the mysteries of death..of life..of this natural mystic that he only feels and hears when he listens closely. you might only understand this if you have lost somebody very dear to you and you can still feel their presence whenever you listen closely. and btw..this is also the song they played at Bob's funeral..must have been for a good reason right.

Many spiritual traditions teach the existence of an invisible third eye, which functions as a gateway to higher realms of consciousness. Its believed that this third eye allows us to experience visions and other mystical phenomenon. According to this belief, although each of us is born with an inner or spiritual eye, we must learn to open it throughout the course of our lives.

Bob marley were seeing what many of us are not able to see.

And its true that if you listen carefully you can see like him

I think you are all right. Bob was a Prophet and was seeing many things been and gone and things to come which are to pass. Bob was steeped in old time religion and a strong believer.  I think Natural Mystic is Bobs ability to intuit the world spiritually and his God given gift which was his Mission on earth, to bring the old age message of Peace, Love and Unity through his music. Bob was known to have the gift of clairvoyance early in life which is the gift of knowing. I think Bob is the Natural Mystic and he is singing about listening to what is really going on using our heightened senses which we can all do if we raise our consciousness. Bobs revelation and gift to us is that humanity can and will evolve to a higher state of being beyond our day to day needs and concerns of conflict, competition, exploitation and greedy politics to a more global, international and collaborative Society based on love and brotherhood. Bobs message of Peace, Love and Unity couldn't be a more global message in a world in greater need of that message. We need people like Bob to remind us of where we need to go. Bob was our signpost to a better world and the power of one to change the world. He was one of the big Thinkers of the 20th century and he carried his message around the globe like a Prophet of old. Check out his world tours and schedules in the last 10 years of his life and how far he reached into our homes and our hearts. Bob is the Natural Mystic and the message is his music. One Love! Matt

Bob is one of my favorites ever lived in this world. He inspires me through his hymns. Bob was a prophet for real and to get clearly the interpretations of his songs, you have to listen carefully as he himself says. Talking about Natural mystic,I think Bob is warning us about an impending calamities that are going to be caused by world dominants and they include:Money, false prophecy, politics and a group 'illuminati'. Bob made world tours and he got very great revelation about life and the main message in this song is "incoming love and worship of material wealth". As u can see in our current society, money runs everything;politics, religion and even love and so when people won't look keenly on this money, its the NATURAL MYSTIC! Bob is talking about. War,intimidation, slavery and power of superiority and Arms race that is killing down humanity is about final results being MONEY!People nowadays worship money than the Most High and so that is what Bob is warning us. Another thing is nearing of end times whereby religions will emerge others being false as Jesus christ said and so the human nature should be keen so that to avoid the impending punishment. I think that is my interpretation of that prophetic hymn of Bob Marley. That song really takes me away from the actual world to spiritual world anytime I listen to it,always feel like shedding tears.
