Question
Hi,

I was watching HLN, this morning and I thought the deal of the day, was for people to purchase I -bonds. The man said it was giving 4.76% instead of having your money sit in a bank account.

I can not find I-bonds. My question is, what do you think the name of the bond was? I-bond or something else?  Thanks,

Heidi

Answer
'I bond' is a generic name for inflation-indexed bonds.  Rates are very low right now, and the person was making the point that bonds with inflation protection would return more than those without.

They typically have not, though they have more so over the past year with the boom in commodities.
