Question
I happen to be friendly with a very well known bonds broker.  I have no college degree but keen on sales.  My friend offered me a job after 53 exam.  And to be honest it sounds to good to be true.  My question is how is the current market in refrence to being a bond broker.  Are computers going to take over the market.  My age is 28.  Very interested in your opinion.  I have asked friends but you never know with friends.    THANK YOU

Answer
If you have a mentor and the ability to withstand rejection, go for it.  You're still young enough.

The key is the thick skin to keep calling people that have hung up on you.

The bond market is an exciting business.  Rates are low, but I know many brokers that are doing very well.

Education shouldn't be an issue, but you have to be sharp and good sales skills are huge.

I know brokers that used to drive coca-cola trucks that make more than I ever thought about making!

Good luck.  But, don't take the job unless you are willing to dive headfirst into it for at least 3 years.
