what is difference between shares & debentures ?

Bonds are the debt of a company.
Debentures are borrowings - you are loaning the company money, but you don't own it.
You have higher priority to share holders.
Often the debt is guaranteed or has collateral.
Shares are actual ownership (stock).
You are investing in the company and own a share of it.
