Question
Hi, I have had very little experience with bonsai's and any sort of growing. I have heard that it is possible to grow bonsai's with cuttings. I wanted to try growing a juniper with a cutting from a tree at my friends house. How would you suggest I do this? I don't have any rooting hormones or special soils. Is this possible to do? Thanks a lot for helping me out!!!!!!!!

Answer
Hello,

It is possible to grow bonsai from cuttings if you have patience, but I do recommend using rooting hormones. The soil is also important, but regular porous soil will be okay for the first phase. I'm not an expert at rooting junipers. I would recommend that you post your question on a bonsai site like http://www.learning2bonsai.com The forum is free and you'll receive answers from someone more educated than myself to help you.

Also take a look at this website. They have an article that specifically answers your question. http://www.bonsaiforbeginners.com/bonsai_cuttings.html
