Dear Bonsai Outlet,
I would love to get my boyfriend a little Bonsai for Valentine's day. I'm not sure what kind I should get, however. I'm looking for a Japanese, indoor, low-maintenance, small Bonsai. I'm also not sure what special gardening tools might be necessary to purchase along with the tree. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I apologize for the delayed response. Bonsai trees are great gift, and I would recommend a Jade or Ficus for his first tree. Both are low maintenance, tropical, and can be grown indoors. They are not Japanese. If you want a Japanese Tree, then you would need to explore "mostly" outdoor grown trees.

All you need to get started is a pair of Bonsai shears. If your boyfriend enjoy's bonsai gardening, you can buy him a bonsai tool set for his birthday.
