Question I am in possession of a book (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving) published by the Henry Altemus Company. The copyright says 1896. There are no illustrations. Can you tell me if that is the correct publication date and if so, an approximate value of the book? It is in very good condition. Thanks,

Answer Hello.
This title was published by Henry Altemus in 4 different series. The first time was in 1896. All the later Altemus printings also had the 1896 copyright even though they were published after 1896. I do not know which version you have but none of them are worth more than a few dollars unless they have the original dust jacket.
