Question I saw where you answered another person on this publisher and I am in the same boat. I have a book titled Emerson's Essays First Series in very good condition. But, there is no publish date inside. The only address inside is New York. I have exhausted all possibilities of trying to find the date. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mark

It may be impossible to date your book but here are some ideas.
The title page imprint: W.L. Allison Company was the imprint until 1896. Thereafter it was William L. Allison and Company.
Are there any ads in the back. Maybe there is a street address in those ads.
If you want, you can send me a picture of the cover. I may be able to find a similar book in one of my catalogues.
