Question I've recently bought a few books from book sales or on-line bookstore. Sometimes it's easy to find out the edition but I have a few books that I wasn't able to find on abebooks nor on other websites. Do you know how can I collect information about the books I buy. I would really love to know more about each one (year, edition, etc.)
Answer Hello. Easy question but very hard answer. Most long time book collectors have amassed much in the way of bibliographical reference material to help research their books. I am certainly not the final word but I would think that as a novice you would study each book you get -one by one. Email experts you find on line, book dealers who specialize in your title/author/publisher and learn book by book. It will become much easier as time go by. Get reference material for your library. Most book people are happy to tell you what they know. But remember, there can be disagreements among experts. Generally if you have a Dickens book, look online for Dickens' dealers and collectors. Good luck. Cary css3@mac.com
