Questionhello,
i was just wondering if you have any suggestions for really great novels. i'm a grade twelve student looking for a novel for an ISU, and basically i want something that i'll enjoy because i'll be reading it oer once or twice. I'm a big fan of the romance type novel. i read Jane Eyre last year and absolutely loved it! do you know of any novels that are similar to Jane Eyre? or any that might be just a fantastic love story or something?
i'd appreaciate any help finding a book that i can get! thanks!
Stephanie
AnswerHi
Well, if you want to read something similar to Jane Eyre, please try Emily Bronte's (she is the sister of Charlotte -- the author of JE) Wuthering Heights. And yes, it is a love story.
You can also give Anne Bronte's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall a try. It is slightly laidback, but if you hold on for the first 30 pages or so, I am sure you would not regret it.
Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White and Charles Dickens' Great Expectations are novels of the same era as Jane Eyre. You might enjoy either of them. And both of them are love stories; though that isn't the most important aspect of either.
As for something really great...Well, my favorite novel is Harper Lee's To Kill a Mocking Bird. But then it is not a love story. :( However, it is a novel that you can and will read more than once -- as it kind of grows with every reading. It is a novel that I recommend to every friend of mine, and I haven't found anyone who did not like the novel till now.
All the best.
