Books--General/would you recommend me some great books?
Expert: Susan Rand - 8/30/2007
QuestionQUESTION: First of all, i'm not a native english speaker so i don't want to read something hard like william shakespeare.
I have read To kill a mockingbird which wasn't hard for me and my favorite by far.
I have also read My Antonia, Huckleberry Finn ,The Pearl and Black Boy, Tender is the night,The end of Affair, The Tenth Man..and so on.
Tender is the night and Black boy were hard for me due to the lack of vocabulary.
Classic and contemporary will both be fine for me. And i have been thinking about reading these two books: Falling Palace and Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez , which one do you think would be better to read concerning to my ability of English?
Thank you for taking your time.
ANSWER: Hello James:
I have not read either of those books, but either, or both, are sure to help you with your English. The more reading you do, the faster you will progress in your fluency in English.
For help in choosing books, go to
http://www.georgehart.com/sculpture/bookball-titles.html (you'll have to copy and paste as this site does not support hyperlinks) There you will find plenty of choices. Those you find too difficult you can put aside for another time.
I would recommend you read your way through this entire list. This will keep you busy for a while, but you will learn a lot about the language this way.
I hope this has helped. If it has, a nice rating would be greatly appreciated. I am proud of my high score over 1000+ questions.
Good luck with your studies!

QUESTION: Appreciated your answers but i cannot go to the link even i copied and pasted
so would you show me how or simply give me the list
AnswerHello James:
I did answer your follow-up question, but I'm afraid it didn't go through. So we will try again.
I am unable to copy the list from the site, so try this: go to your search engine (I recommend google.com) and type in "Northport's Best Books of the Century," without the quotes, of course. This should take you to the site. If you type in "Best Books of the Century" you will get several choices.
I am sorry the first answer didn't go through.
Thanks for writing.
