Boston Celtics/Frank Ramsey
Expert: Fabio Anderle - 4/26/2002
QuestionI was talking to some LA LAKER fans about our favorite team (great to be back in play-offs against 76ers; it feels good) and I started my usual reminescences (sp?) about the first 6th man to strike fear into an opposing team when he came off the bench. Frank was instant offense long before the Microwave, and my question is:
Were his talents sufficient to get him into the NBA's Hall of Fame, or are those just us diehard Celtics Fans who cherish his memory?
AnswerDear Bob,
first of all let me tell you that it's a pleasure to find such competent fans, and indeed you are one of them, as your brilliant answer shows. Now, back to business... luckily, not only the diehard Celtic fan seem to have realized the importance of Frank Ramsey in the whole NBA history. He definitely set a standard of a cerebral player who was so humble to wait on the bench for his moment to come, and who was able to exploit it at its best with clutch plays which often granted success to his (and our)team. He was enshrined in the Basketball Hall Of Fame on May the 3rd, 1982, and is one of the 28 Celtics to accomplish the feat. And, to us Celtics fans, his #23 hanging from the rafters of the Fleet Center will always be keepsake of the pride of the ones who founded the legacy.
