Boston Celtics/draft picks

Question
It is my recollection that Otho Tucker, University of Illinois, was the lat player taken in the 1976 draft by the Boston Celtics. Is that correct? Thanks, Dave

Answer
Yes, Dave,

it is correct. Otho Tucker, as you recall, had starred at Illinois University and had been instrumental to the run to the 1976 NCAA final, when Illinois hardly fought Indiana University and eventually surrendered (48-58) with Tucker leading the "Fighting Illini" in scoring. In the 1976 draft Tucker was selected with the Celtics' tenth pick, but he wasn't able to make the team. It was the 172nd overall pick in the draft, and the next to last: with the 18th pick of the tenth and last round, the Golden State Warriors drafted Ken Smith, from San Diego State.
I hope this helps
