Question
Who was the first in the NBA to lead the league at season's end in assists and scoring avg ? Was it Larry Byrd?

Answer
No, Kay,
Larry Bird never led the NBA in any of those cathegories. Only Nate "Tiny" Archibald (who later played for the Celtics winning the 1981 Championship with them) managed the feat. It happened in 1973, when Archibald was playing for the Kansas City Kings: he led the NBA in scoring (34.0 ppg) and assists (11.4 apg), becoming the first (and so far only) player ever to do so.
I hope it helps
