About Ken Fougere
Expertise
Boston Red Sox player/team/Fenway Park statistics and history are my strengths. Boston's minor league teams are not.

Experience
I've been attending at least 30 games yearly at Fenway Park since 1969. I thrive on Bosox trivia. I have been a huge Red Sox fan since I was 12 years old. My knowledge of Carl Yastrzemski is exceptional. He was my boyhood hero and I still miss his (hard-nose, give 100% every game) playing style to this day. I 'live & die' with the Red Sox every season, game and even every inning.

Publications
A senior member of Baseball-Fever.com forums (Baseball Almanac) since 1998. Author of the 'Bitter Rivals' thread, (http://baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=6638). Since 2002, has received over 9,300 posts and has been read by 295,000 viewers worldwide.

Education/Credentials
University of Massachusetts - 1982 Bachelors degree in business management and computer science.

Boston Red Sox - George Thomas' uniform numbers

Expert: Ken Fougere - 6/24/2009

Question
I am assisting on a project that entails Red Sox players' uniform numbers. George Thomas is listed on several web sites as wearing uniform numbers 24, 17 and 22 during his Red Sox career. Yet, Thomas claims he never wore #17. Is there any documented proof that he did or did not wear #17?

Answer
According to several sources, he wore these numbers in these years:

1966 Boston Red Sox  #24
1967 Boston Red Sox  #24
1968 Boston Red Sox  #17
1969 Boston Red Sox  #22
1970 Boston Red Sox  #22
1971 Boston Red Sox  #22

In 1968 he played only 12 games wearing #17. Which is probably why he doesn't remember . . .
