Question
I have never been to a Red Sox game before in my life. I am a Red Sox fan but I live in New Jersey (Yankee fans ALL over). My mom called for tickets for August 17 against the Angels. All the other games I wanted were either sold-out or standing room only. We ordered 3 seats for the Outfield Grandstand. We have the second row in section 6 in the Outfield Grandstand. The tickets say "obscured view". I read on the internet that every seat at Fenway is a good seat due to the stadium being the smallest in the majors. I have no idea whether our seats are gonna be terrible. Do you know if our seats are gonna be bad or not? I figured that obscured view was bad so I got over having "bad" seats and that just being at Fenway would be a good experience. Do you know when the season of 2008 tickets go on sale? My parents want to come back next summer and have loge or field-box seats. The game I'm going to is at 7:05. redsox.com says the stadium opens 2 hours before a game. I would love to see the teams take batting practice. Do they do BP at 5 on 7:05 games or do they generally take BP in the early afternoon? How early should we go to the game?

Thanks, Ray

Answer
First, here is the seating link for Fenway Park:
http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/ballpark/seating.jsp
Being the smallest and oldest (opened April 20, 1912) ball park in the majors, Fenway's fans sit really close to the field. Where the other ML stadiums have vast foul territory, Fenway has seats. Here's the bad part. They have posts holding up the second tier. "Obstructed View" (I'm sorry to tell you this), means that part of your view of the field will be blocked in some way by a post.
Tickets for an upcoming season usually go on sale around December. BP can be seen 2 hours before each game, weather permitting.
You will LOVE Fenway!

Boston Red Sox players, team & Fenway Park statistics and history are my strengths. Boston's minor league teams are not.

Experience

I've been attending Red Sox games yearly at Fenway Park since 1969. I thrive on Bosox trivia. I have been a huge Red Sox fan since I was 12 years old. My knowledge of Carl Yastrzemski is exceptional. He was my boyhood hero and I still miss his (hard-nose, give 100% every game) playing style to this day. I 'live & die' with the Red Sox every season, game and even every inning.
